Pain In Vain are an Irish metal/metalcore band based in Dublin, Ireland formed in 2014 by vocalist Mikey O'Riordan, they had some member changes but through that In 2016 they released their debut EP 'Leave me

First of all, I want to talk about the vocals, all the vocals are done by Mikey the lead singer, and I have to say, his harsh vocals are amazing, they're very reminiscent of early 2000's metalcore vocals (see bands such as The Amity Affliction and Bring Me The Horizon circa 2004-2010), although the clean vocals needed some work, he's an okay vocalist, it just seems like hes not used to doing clean vocals and I much rather his heavy vocals personally.

The guitars (courtesy of Warren and Jake) are very well done, they're clear and loud, just the way you want a rock album to sound, the drums (courtesy of Glenn) sound great and the bass (By Mark) is also very good, the EP only has 5 songs, the songs are very well written and performed (say for the clean vocals). The musical timing is very good and its not too long or too short (the shortest song being just over a minute)

In all, for a bands debut EP its a good effort but there's a little more work needed. Definitely worth a check if you like bands like Bring Me The Horizon, The Amity Affliction etc.
