Can you Introduce the band?
Collin
Hyperia is a melodic thrash metal band from Canada that was created in 2018. We will be releasing our third album “The Serpent’s Cycle” on November 17.

Where did the name come from?
Collin
Hyperia was a name we came up with that combines the words hyper and hysteria. We felt the name suited our sound pretty well and had a catchy ring to it so it stuck!

You have an album coming out can you tell us about the recording process?
Collin
It was a bit of an unusual recording process this time around, we parted ways with our rhythm guitarist during the recording which meant I had to record all the guitar parts for the album. We also had our friend Ryan Idris (Heathen, Aggression) record drums for the album. It was also our first album that featured our new bassist Jon Power on bass.

Do you have plans to tour this release?
Collin
We plan to tour extensively next year through Europe and the U.S and play as many shows as possible on the road.

Can you tell us about the music scene where you’re from?
Collin
The music scene in Vancouver is great, every show is fairly packed and there are tons of bands in the community. We’ve always had a great reception and response from the crowds and the community here is super supportive and strong.

Was music something you’ve always wanted to do?
Collin
I was born into a musical family and have been around music my whole life. I picked up an electric guitar for the first time when I was 11 and since then I’ve known that music is something that I have to do my whole life.
