Alicia

Can you Introduce the band?

Oneirous

Our current lineup is Michael “Oneirous” Sanchez on Guitars, Bass and Vocals; and Ricky Williams on Drums. On our album we originally started recording as a three-piece with Derrek Page covering bass however he had to drop out with only two songs recorded and a third written so we still wanted to include him as a studio session musician.

Alicia

Where did the name come from?

Oneirous

The name was originally pitched by our bassist when the band was just Oneirous and Reymundo Romero. The name was later altered in spelling by Oneirous when the band changed to a solo project for the release of Lord Ov Thornes.

Alicia

You have an album coming out can you tell us about the recording process?

Oneirous

Oneirous is pretty much the Engineer and composer for the work. The songs start out as a demo guitar track and then they get forwarded to Ricky until we can come together and make a solid demo song between our collaborations. Once we had things more or less together Oneirous recorded the final guitar parts so they are tighter and finalized with the extra harmonies, acoustics, solos, and layers. Then Ricky came in to record the drum lines accompanying the final guitar parts. We had Derrek for a partial recording session on this album but Oneirous took up the majority of the tracks after Derrek had to step down. Lastly, the vocals were added in and the album went into the final steps of engineering like mixing and mastering all performed by Oneirous in his studio Odyssey Sound Studios. The Overall experience has been great and very promising to what we are going to do in the future. There is a very strong partnership between myself (Oneiorus) and Ricky and we have already started pushing ourselves along into future work.

Alicia

Do you have plans to tour this release?

Oneirous

Unfortunately not, the limitations of just myself and Ricky being able to perform don’t really have us set up to present the music in a live situation confidently. We have been working around the idea of hiring some live musicians to help us fill out a live presence which will be done in the future but as for now, its just the album release.

Alicia

Can you tell us about the music scene where you’re from?

Oneirous

We are currently residing in Tucson, Arizona where there is a small music scene with very diverse music tastes from Black Metal to Deathcore/Metalcore influences, to Punk, and various other forms including Alternative Metal. A large portion of our music scene coexists with Phoenix, Arizona since it's so close to us making a bit of a metro of bands jumping between all the small towns in Phoenix and Tucson and everything surrounding us like Bisbee, Benson, Sierra Vista, Flagstaff and even dipping into Mexico just south of us.

Alicia

Was music something you’ve always wanted to do?

Oneirous

I would say so, before I buckled down into the Engineering aspect of things I was studying to be a music teacher for public/college music. Regardless of whether its teaching, performing, or working behind the scenes as an Engineer I think its safe to say I want to always work with music.
