Interview with Ondfodt
Ondfodt are a Finnish black metal band formed in 2013 who use themes of Occultism, Satanism, Spiritualism and nature in their music. All answers by Owe Inborr.

Can you introduce the band?
Owe
Hello, my name is Owe Inborr, vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and producer of the band Ondfødt. We are a Swedish speaking band from Ostrobothnia, Finland. We started out in April 2013 and have so far released 3 full-lengths and one EP. Our 4th album will be released in May this year and so will some other stuff coming up.

Where did the name come from?

Ondfødt was a name I had in mind a long time ago that I wanted to use if I ever would start a black metal band. The band name means that you are born evil, but not like you are a full-born psychopath that will murder everyone around you but more like you have dark visions and dark minded in general.

Your album just came out, can you tell us about the recording process?
Owe
Because I have had my studio "Wolfthrone Studios" since 2013 as well we recorded the album here as always. Tommi Tuhkala joined the band last year a couple of months before we started to record and he is a very skilled drummer so we put a lot more time into tuning and recording the drums and got insanely good results. Joel Notkonen also joined the band during the recording session and he recorded the bass very well with good outcomes. This time we also had "Mathias Lillmåns" from Finntroll and ...And Oceans to do guest vocals like he did back on our second album back in 2018 when we recorded "Dödsrikets Kallselse". He also joined the band as our session bassist. We also had again Jacob Björnfot play two guitar solos like he did on our previous album "Norden". Dario Kåll and I did the guitar work and I did the vocals. Also, Tommi Tuhkala is insanely good at making horror music on his free time so we decided to for the first time add some kind of synth tracks into our music and it turned out pretty cool.

Do you have plans to tour this release?

I really hope that we will, we just got back to playing live last year so we all hope that people will start to book us soon. But right now when I write this we don't have anything confirmed.

Can you tell us about the music scene where you’re from?
Owe
The scene here in Finland is enormous. Finland has the most metal bands per inhabitant so I guess the scene is alive and well.

Was music something you always wanted to do?
Owe
The music I am making right now is basically the music I always wanted to do. But it took me almost 25 years to get to the level of playing and recording I am at right now and now it finally starts to sound like I want it to.
