The Review

Opening track ‘Praelocutio’ is a short piano lead track, the background piano kind of sounds like a metronome, it is only a couple seconds long and an interesting way to start out this release, this leads us directly into the next track ‘Speak of the devil’ The vocals at the beginning of the track almost sound spoken, they’re also kind of muffled, the heavy vocals are a lot clearer. There’s some interesting electronic sounds throughout the track. I feel this one is the track that sets the mood for the whole EP. It slows down near the end and the screams almost sound demonic; the change is pretty interesting however. The vocals also become echoed which is a really cool addition.

The end of  “Speak of the devil’ leads directly into the beginning of ‘I, unsatisfied’ just as heavy as the last track it keeps the same energy as before, the screams become higher pitched squeals at the start which kind of put me off, never really been a fan of the squealing. Ashes is up next, I love how catchy the guitar is in the opening, it’s a good, catchy track, there’s not much else that really needs to be said. ‘Vain’ is the closing track of the EP. Firstly the melody of the guitars is amazing, Bens vocals are heavy and just generally sound cool, This is probably my favourite track on the whole EP. I love the little drum bit at the end, it sounded cool. This was definitely a perfect ending to the EP.

Conclusion

My thoughts are the same as they we’re back in 2019, probably a little better expressed now though, I love this release, it does have things I personally am not a fan of like the squealing but the bands musicianship and Bens vocals through the rest of the EP more than make up for it.
