Florence Black - Bird on a chain song review

About the band

Hailing from south Wales Florence black are a three-piece rock band formed in 2013 by vocalist and guitarist Tristan Thomas, drummer Perry Davies and bassist Jordan Evans, they have released 3 EPs and recently released a new song called ‘Bird on a chain’, this isn’t going to be a long one and I wont go too deep into it but I hope you enjoy anyway. I’ve been doing maintenance for the podcast and here so i’m going to slowly get into doing reviews again soon.

The Review

The song starts out with a pounding drum beat and some background that sounds electronic almost before kicking in with the guitar, Tristan’s vocals are gruff, heavy and reminiscent of John Cooper from Skillet. Its got a catchy beat that you find yourself unconsciously headbanging to and a chorus you just want to sing along with. The solo around the middle of the song is expertly done and the drum and bass just tie everything together, each musician definitely has a passion for the work they do.

From a lyrical standpoint its incredibly written and loaded with metaphors although its not hard to decipher a meaning, it stays a similar pace throughout the song with the abrupt ending, it comes in just under three minutes but packs a whole lot of meaning and pure talent into that time, its something you can mosh and head-bang to and way worth a second or third listen, i’m writing this on my first listen and i’m already excited to check out their other stuff. They truly remind me of bands like Skillet and Three Days Grace. I’ll be looking more into their music and you should too.

If you’re searching for a new favourite band i’d highly suggest Florence Black.

In conclusion

This band has only come to my attention recently and I already love them, If you’re into heavy music that not quite metal but almost you’ll love this band
