About the band

The Death riders are a heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2001. Vocalist Neil Turbin created them to support his album Threatcon Delta, They named the band after Neils song Death rider which was the first song on the album Fist full of metal which Neil Turbin wrote while vocalist of Anthrax. Neil Turbin joined Anthrax back in 1982, he went to the same high school as Anthrax band member Scott Ian. He left the band in 1984, as recently as 2021 Turbin and other former members took part in the Anthrax 40th anniversary celebration which aired on the Anthrax youtube channel. From what I could find, the rest of the members are Blasko (Bass), Johnny Coffin (Guitar/Vocals), Daniel Gray (Guitar) and David Casey (Drums).

Soundtrack for depression

Soundtrack for depression was released in 2005, the song Mary was used in the soundtrack for Season 1 Episode 6 of the CW show Supernatural called skin,  from what I could find this is the only album the band released. Finding information is difficult but the band is still active to this day. I did attempt to reach out to Neil Turbin but got no response.

The first thing I want to point out is the album art (pictured below) with Vampira with a gramophone, she looks younger than she would have been when this album came out so I assume this photo was taken while she was actively on TV playing Vampira, I couldn’t find the original image and it’s very blurry, the album name is super hard to see at the bottom of the cover.

Musically all the songs are pretty catchy, strong vocals, Lyrically ‘Mary’ is probably the most notable song on the album, it has some really dark themes concerning a certain type of abuse. I’m not going into anymore detail on that for my own comfort and the comfort of readers however the song is in the playlist below, apart from that soundtrack for depression is definitely one to check out.
