Interview with FROGG
Frogg are a technical metal band formed in 2009 in New York, USA
Alicia
Can you Introduce the band?
FROGG
Hello, we’re FROGG. We play fast! Sky Moon Clark here, I’m the main guitar player and vocalist. Will Brown, I’m the drummer and compose a lot of this stuff with Sky. Jack Lynch - Bass.
Alicia
Where did the name come from?
FROGG
Our band’s origin dates back to 2009. We were either gonna be cheeese with three Es or FROGG with two Gs.
Alicia
Your album just came out can you tell us about the recording process?
FROGG
Sky: Yeah we track everything at our own studios in our own corners. I have a little guitar studio in my home where the vocals and guitars were recorded. I think Emma Rae who’s a feature on the song recorded all her stuff at HiTop Studios which were real Steinway piano and her vocals. The choir in the song is actually a bunch of layers of her vocals and not synthetic. Will’s studio has his kit fully mic’d up and ready to record most of the time. When it comes to tracking we’re a DIY type of band.
Alicia
Do you have plans to tour this release?
FROGG
Will: Not yet, but we’re aiming to play live shows and eventually tour down the road around when we release our full length in the summer.
Alicia
Can you tell us about the music scene where you’re from?
FROGG
Sky: Brooklyn has a lot of small holes in the wall that are fun to play at. You get to experience a lot of “in your face” type settings where there’s sometimes not even a stage for the band. It’s super personal, and can get packed in a heartbeat.
Alicia
Was music something you’ve always wanted to do?
FROGG
Will: Yes, I have a lot of live work under my belt but very little recorded to show for it. Time to change that. The new FROGG material we’ve been cooking up is super exciting and different, in a tasteful way.
