Interview with Siena Root

Can you introduce the band
Sam
We are Siena Root and this will be the release of our 8th studio album. We call our music "A Dynamic Root Rock Experience" and think that suits well to both what's going on live and on record.
Alicia
Where did the name come from?
Sam
The name came about that we wanted a colour to be part of the bands name like the mighty "Black Sabbath", "Deep Purple", "Pink Floyd" etc. We found the siena colour tone and thought it described our music well combined with the fact that our musical inspiration has roots that go deep.
Love
The colour of siena comes from pigment in the specific soil around the city of Siena. It is a warm colour suits our music.

You have an album coming out, can you tell us abut the recording process?
Sam
We initially had the idea of doing an all acoustic album so started writing and jamming with only the acoustic setting. But along the way we happened to write some great electric songs that we really liked so we didn't want to leave them out... When we blended the acoustic stuff with the electric it was beautiful - A Revelation!

Do you have plans to tour this release
Sam
Sure we'll be out for a small trip in march and again in may and then we hope to see you at the summer festival stages across Europe!

Can you tell us about the music scene where you’re from?
Love
Siena Root is based in Stockholm and we happened to start out in the stoner scene, but our music has never been more than a little bit at home there. The music scene where we come from is much focused on export.
Sam
Stockholm has lots of great bands but unfortunately not many venues for these bands to play...
Alicia
Was music something you’ve always wanted to do?
Sam
Yes, since I was a kid I knew I had to do this :)

I think I realized it at the age of 14-15, I think.
Alicia
Is there anything in the works you can tell us about?
Sam
At the same time as the album release we'll release a road movie called "Wheels of Revelation", it features most of the music from the album and the story of how we recorded it.
