Alicia

Can you introduce the band?

Jon

We are Sandrider. I'm Jon, I play guitar and yell. My brain writes songs that are too difficult for my body to play and it all comes out a sloppy mess, but I'm clever enough to hide it behind very loud amplifiers. Nat Damm is our drummer. He's got all the qualities you want from a quality rock drummer. He hits hard and can build stuff. Nat and I are both dads so we're always exhausted no matter how much beer we drink to wake up. Jesse Roberts is our bass player. He also yells. He does all our album art. He's so good at music and art that it feels like a magic trick to me sometimes. He likes cold baths. Together we are Sandrider, two tipsy dads and a cold bather.

Alicia

Where did the name come from?

Jon

The Dune books by Frank Herbert. It's a surprisingly detailed series of science fiction books that were inspired by the 2021 film Dune, directed by Dennis Villeneuve.

Alicia

You have an album coming out can you tell us about the recording process?

Jon

I could but it would make for horrifically boring content. We're efficient in the studio. It is focused and exhausting and we never have time to try stuff. I love making records but making the record is easily the worst part. Everything before and after is much more fun and interesting.

Alicia

Do you have plans to tour this release?

Jon

Not currently. As mentioned earlier two of us are dads and our elementary school kids aren't super down with us not being available every second of every day to make them snacks and listen to them talk about their minecraft ideas. We have some killer local shows, and we're open to short targeted tours if many moving parts come together to make that possible. Apologies to you and your readers for that disappointing answer.

Alicia

Can you tell us about the music scene where you’re from?

Jon

We're from Seattle. At one time it was literally world famous for heavy music. Not the case anymore but heavy bands have always been part of the DNA of this town, even in the age of DJs and emotional singer/songwriter fanfare. The trends come and go but Seattle has always shown up for loud rock, punk, and metal crushers. Proud to call this city our home.

Alicia

Was music something you’ve always wanted to do?

Jon

Yup! I was never really a 'want' but more of an inevitability.

Alicia

Is there anything in the works you can tell us about?

Jon

Yes and no! Things in the works. Not ready to talk. For now we will leave you in the mists of wondering, the forests of possibility. Who knows what we'll do next? The only surety is that IF there are any hints, they can be discovered amidst the stoic prose of our new album Enveletration, out now on Satanik Royalty Records. Buy it to discover the wonders of the future!

Alicia

Is there anything you want to share or promote?

Jon

I would like to promote being nice. Everyone just chill and be excellent to each other. Party and get loud.
