About the band
Seversun are a metal band from Russia formed in 2015 although they have had other names before, they released ‘New world chaos’ in 2017 and ‘Headlong through blood’ in 2021.

The review
Headlong through blood was released in March 2021, it took me a few weeks to get to it but here we are, This 10 track album, starts out strong with ‘We the feeble’ a fast, heavy and powerful track, the vocals aren’t as heavy as i thought they’d be but they’re still pretty good, the background instrumentals are amazing too, looking into the actual lyrics you can see a lot of political,religious and racial themes, lyrics like “Exterminate the indigenous Kidnap, enslave and exploit” “God demands the new blood In the name of freedom” and “We the feeble, shivering in the shade of Fistagon The five-sided fort of tolerant hatred, noble murders” show these themes very well, Next song is ‘Machismo’, it begins with the vocals only, almost acapella sounding before the instrumentals slowly kick in, it continues like a normal metalcore song, with some awesome growls thrown in.

‘While a whale is whole’ is next and starts off a lot calmer, it has a slow guitar intro before the drums kick in and it starts to sound more anthemic, there are no heavy vocals at all in this track and ends very abruptly, the next track “The grand perfection’ starts off with a choir-like singing, soon the music picks up and the song continues like the others on the track although the vocalist does keep the slightly echoed singing up, i just think that’s a cool touch. Around midway through there’s a piano section, it also took me til around this time to see the song is like 20 minutes long , it does switch back to the heavy vocals after a while, it ends with a long outro, like it's a good minute long of just noise from an instrument i can’t name.
Skipping ahead to ‘Баю-Бай’ the music reminds me of a music box, the vocals are all clean and it's the shortest song on the album. It's a nice break from the heaviness of the rest of the album. The title is in Russian which is kinda cool. Skipping ahead a little again to the last song ‘Holocaust messiah’ the intro is almost 2 minutes long, this, theres not much to say, its heavy and a good closer for the album, it brings everything full circle.
The Conclusion
I enjoyed it, although i’m not a huge fan of the vocalists heavy vocals, they just don’t sound right at times his clean vocals are amazing, the rest of the band play really well, but overall it was an enjoyable listen
